About Us

The HSC South Central AETC Program (HSC-SCAETC) provides HIV trainings and support throughout North Texas. HSC-SCAETC is a local partner site of the South Central AETC (SCAETC) region headed by the University of New Mexico Health Science Center – ECHO Institute. HSC-SCAETC is one of ten performance sites under the SCAETC that span over five states including New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana.

The AIDS Education and Training Center (AETC) Program was established in 1987 by the Department of Health and Human Services’ (DHHS) and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and is recognized as the training arm of the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program of HRSA, HIV/AIDS Bureau. The Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program provides HIV-related services to more than half a million people each year who do not have sufficient health care coverage or financial resources to cope with HIV. The Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program fills gaps in care not covered by other sources.

To improve the quality of life of persons with or at-risk of HIV through the provision of high-quality professional education and training.

The HSC SCAETC offers:

  • Education and training programs custom-designed to meet the needs of you and your clinic
  • Clinical preceptorships
  • Coaching and organizational capacity building
  • One-on-one and group clinical consultations

Our programs are available for physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, pharmacists, dentists, dental hygienists, social workers, trainees, and other health professionals on a variety of topics. Including but not limited to:

  • HIV prevention and testing
  • PrEP and Rapid Start
  • HIV treatment
  • Co-morbidities in HIV care
  • Linkage to and retention in care
  • Oral health and HIV
